What Do Brokers Do?
We know that in our communities, a certain number of accidents happen each year. It’s unavoidable, so someone has to gather emergency funds. Sometimes the accidents are silly, sometimes they’re serious, and sometimes they’re sad—but they all cost money.
At AA Munro, we are an insurance brokerage. We are not an insurance company. So what’s the difference?
An insurance broker offers insurance from multiple companies. She is someone who lives in your community and looks for insurance that best matches your risks. She offers more advice, more choice, better pricing and personal support if you have an accident.
There are many fine insurance brokerages across Nova Scotia. The broker model works because true assessment of risk requires local knowledge. Brokers often get involved in local organizations and charities. They care deeply about the vitality of their communities. They support schools and rivers and trails and festivals. They are longterm advocates of neighbourhoods—whether the closest neighbour is the apartment next door or the farm five kilometres down the road. Without the community, the broker has no job!
Insurance doesn’t work perfectly all the time. And as the Canadian economy grows, insurance options—like many other aspects of life—are becoming more complicated. The role of an insurance broker is to be an expert about the field and to inform you of your best options.
