NS Healthcare Hero: Billy Brown

“I’m writing to nominate my father, Billy Brown. He has been a devoted paramedic to his community for 37 years. Anyone who is lucky enough to know my dad would know the dedication he has for his job and for always putting others before himself. If he isn’t taking care of you then he is probably playing a silly little prank just to make you laugh.

I have yet to cross paths with someone that has the work ethic he has. To be honest, I don’t think he even stops long enough to finish eating his lunch, there is always something that needs to be done. Over the years, if he wasn’t working he would be volunteering for events in our community or anything that he was needed for (and usually dragging my sister and I along). My sister and I are both first responders today because of the role model he has been for us. We have big shoes to fill.

My little girl will tell anyone who listens just how special her poppa is and that “he works when we hear the sirens”. She is the proudest 3 year old and that alone speaks volumes. There are not many things I am sure of, but one thing is how deserving this man is to be recognized for his service to his community.”
