Three randomly selected published nominations received a $1000 thank-you grant for their organization that could take the form of a celebration gathering, an upgrade, a plaque or any other means to boost everyone’s spirits and remind them of how much they are appreciated for all they’ve done and continue to do for their communities.
Thanks for helping us discover and celebrate the heroes in continuing care in our Nova Scotian communities. Since 2020, you nominated over 85 heroes across the province. Read their stories below!
2022: Paramedic Edition
Recipients:
- The EHS Extended Care Paramedics team, who serve continuing care facilities in the HRM
- Danika Nelson, who works for the emergency department in Truro
- Joe Gallant, a longtime paramedic and mentor for others
2021: Continuing Care Edition
Recipients:
- Tiffany MacInnis and the team at Antigonish and Area Home Care Agency
- Danielle Pyke, who works in continuing care for Macleod Group Nursing Home in Port Hawkesbury
- Erin Clarke & Misty Hynes, a hardworking team of nurses at the VON in Halifax
2020: Healthcare Heroes
Recipients:
- April Crowley and the Mental Health Team at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital
- The staff of Vimy Court, a long term care facility in Bible Hill
- Carolyn Cox, pharmacy manager at Valley Drug Mart Pharmasave in Middleton
