NS Healthcare Hero: Benjamin Edgett
“Not sure where to start, but my husband Benjamin Edgett has been a paramedic in Nova Scotia for almost 12 years now. He wanted a career that would help better our family; we were pregnant with our first daughter Claire at the time. When he started he was all over NS—from Pugwash to Parrsboro, to finally getting a full-time position in Amherst.
I would like to nominate him, because he truly is one of the good guys. He always puts everyone else first. He’s an awesome dad to our 2 daughters Claire and Brooke. He still finds time for them even after working a long 12 hour shift. He never shows them how hard the day was or how tired he really is.
He also has been a volunteering at our local fire department for over 20 years, and does his best to be there when he is needed. He has been a councillor at the Village of Dorchester now for his second year running, he takes time from his day to try to make our community a better place to live for all residents and our family.
I could list a billion things about why I think he should be nominated. In this type of work, I find everyone heroes—but please consider my husband Benjamin Edgett. We think he’s a superhero. Our daughters are so proud that they they made their own costumes for the fireman’s carnival to be just like their dad.”
