NS Healthcare Hero: Brendan Jay
“I would like to anonymously nominate Brendan Jay. Brendan has been a paramedic in Pictou County for 31 years. Brendan is also the proud father of 2 handsome sons.
When he’s not occupied with work or hanging out with his boys more often than not Brendan is fighting fires, responding to medical calls, helping out with fundraisers, participating in training, or attending meetings for the Trenton Fire Department, where he is a volunteer firefighter.
It’s not very hard to tell how altruistic Brendan is and that’s just one of the many traits that make him such an amazing medic. Throughout his 31 years as a paramedic Brendan has shown up for a lot people on their hardest days, during their weakest moments, and has gives it his all to save lives.
Over the past 31 years he has held many hands, dressed numerous wounds, treated a wide range of illnesses/injuries in people of all different ages, taken countless sets of vitals, provided reassurance to so many patients and their families, and has witnessed things that most of us can’t even begin to imagine, nor would we want to. When it comes to careers being a paramedic isn’t an easy one by any means. It’s extremely taxing, especially with all the operational obstacles you have to jump through these days. In spite of the hurdles and the demand of the job Brendan still shows up day in and day and pours his heart and soul into being a medic. He has such a passion for helping other people and he takes great pride in being a paramedic. EHS is incredibly lucky to have Brendan working for them.
Although he is quite humble and doesn’t like to give himself credit for all that he does, Brendan is truly one of the greatest medics around and he more than deserves all the credit, praise, and acknowledgement.”
