NS Healthcare Hero: Carolyn Cox

“I would like to nominate my boss Carolyn Cox. She is Pharmacy Manager aka Pharmacist. During this pandemic she has been working extra hours pretty much everyday including coming in on her weekends off to help out.

We have been filling twice as many prescriptions as usual but she still finds the time to ensure everyone gets the care they need. We had 2 family doctors who had huge practices retire this time last year, which means all their patients have run out of prescriptions during this pandemic.

She has been triaging to get those with complicated health needs into the clinics that are opening up in the area and letting others know about the walk-in clinic in the area. She spends a lot of her time doing assessments to renew patients regular medications while dealing with doctors asking her for renewing their patients medications. They state ‘it’s the easiest time for patients to get an appointment’ yet no one is able to get through to their offices, even pharmacy staff. Without all her extra work we would be drowning.”
