NS Healthcare Hero: Heather Bacon

“I would like to submit this letter to nominate Heather Bacon as a paramedic for the AA Munro Healthcare Heroes Campaign. She lives in the Amherst area and works for EHS in the Cumberland County areas. I met Heather by “accident,” literally speaking. I am a volunteer firefighter, and was attending the scene of an accident when she arrived. It soon became apparent that she was a skilled medic and new how to handle the situation. However I wasn’t long realizing that she had a way about her of showing sincere care and compassion for the patient as well as delivering primary healthcare.

When we are faced with people in many of these situations it is well to remember that we are total strangers and dealing with them at some of the worst moments in their lives. Heather seems to have a way of showing sincere kindness and care to the patient and ultimately calming and comforting them in this type of a stressful situation.

I since have attended other calls as a firefighter when Heather was involved in her duties as a medic and it is always the same kind and caring manner in which she handles all patients. Since then I have had the opportunity to get to know Heather a little bit on a personal level and you will soon realize how important her position is as a paramedic.

Many times she will take her work home with her mentally caring about different aspects of her work how to improve and better the program and patients she had attended to. Therefore I respectfully submit her name!”
