NS Healthcare Hero: Joe Gallant

“I am nominating a very deserving individual who happens to be my father, Joe Gallant, whom I have looked up to for my entire life.

38 years. That is well over half his life. That is how long my father, Joe has been a paramedic. Through those years he has had many ups and many downs and continues to shine with pride as he calls me to tell me about a life he saved.

He has never once ignored the novelty, which is hard to maintain after you have seen absolutely everything over the last 38 years. In the community he also has dedicated his life to his work at hospitals, doctor’s offices, volunteer medical aid… even answering every phone call day or night from friends and family requiring medical advice (physically, emotionally, mentally).

He has guided many others’ careers as a paramedic and the advice comes daily. He is very well respected by his peers. Over his career, it is not hard to tell that his heart has been used to help people and put himself on the back burner.

I feel he would be a great candidate for such recognition and I really appreciate the consideration. Thank you for all that you do.”
