I would like to nominate my wife, Amanda Elderkin. She has been a paramedic in Digby for almost 22 years. Amanda is also a mother of two boys (13 year old and a 17 month old baby). You could say she works two full time jobs. However one of those jobs is extremely taxing, Ill leave it up to the reader to interpret which job is more laborious.

Amanda has witnessed the unimaginable during her time as a paramedic. She has held the hand of someone taking their last breath and has held the hand of someone who had been given a second chance to continue breathing. Meanwhile, always coming home to our boys and doing what mothers do, loving and caring for our family, day in and day out.

Being a first responder isnt for everyone. I bear witness to the effects it takes on the people in the healthcare industry. Especially now with the operational hurdles across all avenues of the healthcare system. Many people deserve individual recognition, but at this time, Im hoping that you choose my wife Amanda as a recipient for the grant.
